Our Refrigerants KR calls for universal adoption of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, the international treaty to phase down the use of hydrofluorocarbons, or HFCs. These heat-trapping refrigerants are thousands of times more potent, pound for pound, than CO2. At present, 163 nations have ratified Kigali.

To align with net zero by 2050, countries need to raise their ambition and ban HFCs entirely and on a faster timeline.
