Hi all,

Welcome to a special edition of Zeroing In by Speed & Scale, where we cut through the noise to deliver a data-driven update on progress toward net zero.

Last week, we convened with climate advocates, Fortune 500 executives, and global policymakers at Climate Week NYC (CWNYC). It was a whirlwind, and we’re recapping the most notable developments, comments, and news coverage from Climate Weeks past and present.

Keeping our eye on the prize

For the past 14 years, in concert with the UN General Assembly, climate leaders have gathered in New York in September to showcase initiatives and pathways toward the energy transition. We think it’s worth asking: What does Climate Week actually deliver? Is there demonstrated impact from bringing together policymakers, activists, and media to confront global climate challenges?

Read our take on Climate Week NYC here.

Progress demands persistence. As the world eyes COP28, to be hosted in the United Arab Emirates, uncertainty looms. Countries have yet to agree to include a phaseout of fossil fuels on the conference agenda. The rallying cry out of this year’s Climate Week was clear: COP28 needs to call upon all parties to phase out fossil fuels and triple clean energy capacity.

Stay tuned as we track progress on these efforts…
