GRATITUDE: As we head into the festive season, Speed & Scale is diverging from our normal newsletter to offer something more personal. Each member of our team has chosen a climate-related favorite—from cultural fare to leftover solutions—that delights and inspires us. We hope you’ll find something here to enliven, inform, and enrich this special time. Happy holidays!

After your turkey trot and a wonderful meal, gather up your friends and family, tap into your inner wonder and amazement, and go for an Awe Walk! You can find awesome things anywhere in our precious habitat, from a stunning butterfly to a dignified tree to a complex snowflake. Take twenty minutes of uninterrupted time (aka phones off) to enjoy your surroundings. – Alix

I love playing board games with friends and family. One of my favorites is Daybreak, a cooperative game where players call on innovation and resilience to fight climate change. – Jonathan

I’ve just inhaled the beauty of a novel that is A Guardian and a Thief. Set in the not-too-distant future, the book follows two city dwellers navigating new everyday realities—and the deep moral conflicts—that come with a warming world. The story unfolds over six days and takes less time to consume, making it a moving holiday weekend read.

– Anjali

A treat for the kids! Cars 2 is secretly a Pixar climate parable: a world hooked on fossil fuels, a too-good-to-be-true biofuel, and an uphill battle to take clean energy mainstream. This animated spy comedy makes the energy transition an edge-of-your-seat adventure. – Ryan

Ani Dasgupta, CEO of the World Resources Institute, has a plan to save the planet—and he shares it in his freshly published book, The New Global Possible. A pragmatic optimist of the first order, Dasgupta makes a persuasive case for how we can change the climate landscape at speed and scale. His tentpoles are multilateralism, tech innovation, corporate ambition (with government holding businesses to account), and, not least, justice. – Jeff

I’ve always loved Thanksgiving food—the comforting flavors, the cozy dishes (my mom’s casseroles—try her sweet potato casserole recipe included below!), and of course, the leftovers. Let’s be honest, Thanksgiving leftovers are the real stars of the holiday. Whether you host a big family feast, a cozy dinner for two, or something in between, there always seems to be more food than we can finish. To help cut down on food waste, here are a few of my favorite leftover classics: Thanksgiving leftover sandwiches, turkey tetrazzini, and turkey pot pie. – Quinn
